GTA 6 Trailer 2 breakdown: Jason, Lucia and the cast of Leonida

Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, and it arrived with homework. Four days earlier Rockstar had announced the first delay, from 2025 to May 26, 2026, apologising for the wait and saying the extra time was needed to reach the quality the game demanded. The trailer was the answer to that: two minutes of story, a refreshed website with around seventy screenshots, and pages for eight characters and six regions. Take-Two said every shot was captured on a PlayStation 5; Rockstar later clarified a standard PS5, not a Pro, and a mix of gameplay and cutscenes.

Jason and Lucia

The trailer opens on Jason Duval, shirtless, fixing some leaks in a boat, a line that doubled as a joke about 2022. Lucia is out of Leonida Penitentiary and the two are together, and Rockstar's official premise is simple: they have always felt the odds were against them, an easy score goes wrong, and they are pulled into a conspiracy across Leonida that forces them to rely on each other. Jason grew up around crooks, served in the Army and now works for drug runners in the Keys; Lucia was taught to fight by her father, went to prison fighting for her family, and intends to make only smart moves from here. The cast Rockstar named

The same day, Rockstar put names and one-line bios to six more faces. Brian Heder, the first person seen in the trailer, is a veteran smuggler from the Keys' heyday who runs product through his boatyard and uses Jason because he is too old to do the dirty work himself; Jason lives rent-free in one of his properties. Cal Hampton is Jason's friend, a bucket-hat conspiracy theorist who monitors police chatter from his couch. Boobie Ike is a former street hustler turned Vice City legend with real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. Dre'Quan Priest is a dealer with ambitions who runs Only Raw Records. Real Dimez are Bae-Luxe and Roxy, a rap duo and old school friends who once robbed local dealers and had a hit five years ago. Raul Bautista is a seasoned, reckless bank robber always chasing the next score, and the trailer suggests Jason and Lucia end up on his crew.

The map

Trailer 2 is where the map page gets most of its confirmed territory: Vice City from the air with its glass towers and elevated highways, the Leonida Keys with their bridges, Grassrivers' sawgrass and airboats, Port Gellhorn's faded motels, Ambrosia's sugar refinery, and the forested hills of Mount Kalaga. Rockstar's region pages describe Port Gellhorn as a place where pills are easier to find than fun, and Ambrosia as the heart of Leonida.

The music, and the numbers

The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together", from 1986, carries the trailer; Wang Chung, the Haitian band Zenglen and Tammy Wynette flicker past on the radio while Jason drives. Streams of "Hot Together" reportedly rose by a factor of nearly two thousand. Rockstar said the trailer was watched 475 million times across platforms in 24 hours, which it called the biggest video launch of all time; it has passed 167 million views on YouTube alone.
