We rebuilt the house while you were in it: a month of changes at SixStarsWanted, and what comes next

A month ago this site was a dashboard with a countdown bolted to it. Today it is a news site with six writers, a database and a new logo, run with help from friends. Here is what changed, why, and where the owner's attention goes next.

There is a particular kind of embarrassment in renovating a house while people are still walking through it. You move a wall, someone walks into the gap. You repaint the hallway, someone leaves with a wet sleeve. For the last month, that has been this site. If you came here for a story and found the furniture in a different place, this is the apology, and the explanation.

The short version: SixStarsWanted is a news site now. Not a countdown with articles attached. A place where the stories come first and everything else, the clock, the map, the screenshots, stands behind them.

Nothing below needs a confirmed-or-guess label. It is all on the site. You can go and poke it.

What it used to be

This site opened in July 2026, four months before the game it is about, which is a strange way to start anything. There was no game to cover, only a release date and two trailers, so the first version was built around the only thing that moved: the clock.

Picture a cockpit. Panels on the left, panels on the right, a big picture in the middle, little scrolling boxes everywhere, each one trying to be helpful at the same time. That was the old homepage, and I say this with affection, because it was built with real enthusiasm and it looked like a game. It also had a flaw you only notice once people start showing up: nobody could find the news.

The old SixStarsWanted homepage, a dashboard of side panels around a large picture
Before: a cockpit. Every panel wanted your attention, and the stories lived a scroll below the fold.

The countdown was the first thing you saw and the last thing you remembered. The writing, which is the only thing on this site that cannot be found somewhere else, was the garnish.

What it is now

The homepage opens on one big picture, with the launch clock tucked in the corner where a clock belongs. Underneath, the stories run in a row, each with a thumbnail, a tag, a date and a byline. The lead story and the two beside it now tell you how long they take to read, flag what is new or pinned, and list other recent pieces by the same writer, so that one good article hands you the next.

After: one picture, one clock, and then the news. The hero image changes between visits.

The same page on a different visit. The furniture stays put; only the view out of the window changes.

That is the visible change. The rest came in a steady drip over the month.

  • Six writers, one rule. The news section now has more than seventy-five stories from six voices: Six on news and guides, Vox on opinion, Eve on characters and culture, Bama on wildlife and Red Dead, Rolo on hardware, and Ruby on fashion and gangs. They do not sound alike, and they are not meant to. The one rule they share is that what Rockstar has said sits on one side of a line and what the writer thinks sits on the other.
  • Share buttons at the top and bottom of every story. Plain links, no tracking scripts, and a button that copies the address when you would rather do it yourself.
  • A GTA 6 database. Vehicles, weapons, radio, activities and collectibles, missions, trophies, cheats and controls, each on its own page. Before launch they hold only what Rockstar has shown. From November 19 they fill in, line by line, from the game itself. This week the radio page gained the score, the launch-trailer song and the customization shops.
  • A GTA 6 FAQ that builds itself from the questions at the bottom of each story, so every answer stays glued to its source.
  • The classics, GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV, grown from a paragraph each into proper pages with districts, radio, activities and timelines.
  • A new logo and a new tab icon. The name now carries a small NEWS tag, because a news site should admit to it. The tiny icon in your browser tab is the hexagon badge with its star turned upside down. Why upside down? Because it was there, and because it looks better.
  • Things you will never see, which is the point: every page now loads over a secure connection on one address, backups happen before anything gets touched, and the sort of traffic that hammers a small site for sport is now shown the door with a page of its own.

The people in the walls

A site does not get seventy-five stories and a working database in a month because one person stopped sleeping. It happens because friends turned up. Some read drafts before they go out. Some keep the content plan honest. Some notice the broken link at eleven at night and fix it before anyone else is awake. They are the ones keeping the machine oiled, and this paragraph is a thank-you that is far too short for what they do.

Why this matters: SixStarsNetwork

Here is the part that is actually news. With the day-to-day in good hands, the owner of this site can finally turn to the thing that has been sitting in a drawer for a year: SixStarsNetwork.

SixStarsWanted is not going anywhere. It stays a GTA 6 and Rockstar site, and every spare hour between now and November 19 goes into launch week and the database.

SixStarsNetwork is for everything else. The ambition is wide, on purpose:

  • Survival and sandbox: DayZ, RimWorld, Project Zomboid, 7 Days to Die.
  • Shooters: Call of Duty, Valorant, Fortnite, and the Marvel games.
  • Simulation: the exact list is still being argued over, but Microsoft Flight Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator are the obvious first names on it.
  • Old MMOs that deserve a second look: Star Trek Online to begin with, and the likes of RuneScape, EverQuest and Guild Wars behind it.
  • Cyberpunk, meaning the game, and the whole neon-lit genre around it.

It will not cover all of that on day one. It will grow the way this site grew: a few pages done properly, then a few more.

SixStarsNetwork today, live inside this page: a pulse, a date, and a door that is not open yet. Estimated launch December 31, 2026.

If you want to watch it happen, the door is at SixStarsNetwork.

The next three weeks

Belong to GTA 6, entirely. The launch-week calendar is live, pre-load opens November 12, and the mission, trophy, cheat and control pages begin filling in from launch day. If there is a page you wish this site had, tell us, and if you find a wet sleeve somewhere, that is almost certainly fresh paint. Give it a minute.

Thanks for reading, and for walking through the house while we moved the walls.
