8/1/26 Update
Everything that changed, in plain words · August 1, 2026
Thank you
Every fix below started as a message from one of you — the tiny video player, the missing thumbnails, the slow pages. You spotted it, you told us, we fixed it. Found something else? Tell us →
Fixed
- Videos play full size. Vertical clips were squeezed into a widescreen sliver — about 6% of a phone screen. The player now takes the shape of the video.
- Thumbnails load instantly. Preview images are made once on the server instead of your browser downloading chunks of video to guess at one.
- Pages load faster. All 14 pages now share one stylesheet your browser downloads once, and fonts no longer hold up the text.
- Videos with spaces or apostrophes in the name (like “Tommy's New Empire.mp4”) could silently fail to load.
- Clicked videos start sooner — buffering begins the moment you press play.
- The video page never cached, forcing a full re-download on every visit.
- Two game pages were invisible to Google. All 14 are now in the sitemap and linked.
- The Forums page had different menus to the rest of the site. Everything matches now.
- Both themes were contrast-checked so every bit of text is readable, measured not eyeballed.
- Screenshot galleries are 40% lighter. Every official shot was recompressed with no visible difference — the classics pages shed almost 7 MB, which phones will feel.
- Your browser now keeps what it already has. Images, styling and clips are cached properly and pages are compressed on the way out, so repeat visits are much quicker.
- Link previews are leaner too — the card that shows when the site is shared is a third of its old size.
- The footer's fine print now matches reality — where screenshots actually come from, and an honest line about the third-party services that fonts and feeds load from.
New
- A Red Dead Redemption 2 page — Rockstar's other masterpiece gets the full treatment: official screenshots sweep cinematically behind the title, the whole page wears frontier ember-and-parchment instead of neon, and a live fan-art gallery pulls from hand-picked Red Dead artists with every piece credited. Look for the glowing crimson RDR2 pill in the top bar — it's on every page.
- The GTA V page went full Los Santos. Roughly double the content — the whole map, the five story heists, a twelve-year GTA Online timeline, the mod community, radio, and eight mystery rabbit holes — dressed in Michael-blue, Franklin-green and Trevor-orange.
- The Classics section — every mainline GTA that led to 6, with brand new pages for GTA III, Vice City and GTA IV.
- Screenshots and news on every game page — official shots plus community work, always credited, and a live feed per game.
- GTA V moved to the top bar. Look for the glowing pill — it's there on every page, phone included.
- NightLife & DayLife themes. Tap the pill in the top-right; neon after dark or Vice City at noon. Your pick is remembered.
- Home-page video thumbnails got a look. They rest in the site's colours and gently fade to the real frame — hover to hold it.
- DayLife turned golden. The light theme is now golden sand with deep indigo text and blue accents, slightly bolder type, and every colour pairing measured against readability standards.
- The footer got the logo. The SixStarsWanted artwork now anchors a centred footer on every page.
Coming up
- Faster video starts. Some clips are built in a way that delays playback; they're being re-processed now.
- A sideways wobble. On narrow phones the home page can scroll ~20px sideways. Old bug, known, being hunted properly rather than papered over.
- The Forums, finalizing beta at GTA6VCT.COM — preview the boards in the meantime.
