GTA 6 reviews could land November 18, the day before launch: what the report says, and what Rockstar hasn't confirmed
A new report says the GTA 6 review embargo lifts on November 18, a day before launch. Rockstar has confirmed nothing. What is reported, what is not, and what it means for you.

GTA 6 reviews could go live on Wednesday, November 18, the day before launch. That is the claim in a new report, and it is the most specific review date anyone has put forward so far. Rockstar has not confirmed it. Here is exactly what is reported, what is not, and what it means for you.
What the new report says
Reported, not confirmed: a leaker known as BlackBate claims the GTA 6 review embargo lifts on November 18. The publication window given is 12:01 PM to 1:01 PM CET, which is roughly 6 AM to 7 AM Eastern and 3 AM to 4 AM Pacific.
The same report says some websites and YouTube channels may be held back until launch day itself, at 12:01 AM Eastern on November 19, the moment the game unlocks in the US. It does not say which outlets.
We first saw the claim in a Tech Insider write-up on October 24. We could not find BlackBate's original post, and we have no track record to judge the source by. Tech Insider also points out that the CET and Eastern times quoted do not quite line up, which suggests the minutes may be loosely sourced. Treat the date as a lead, not a schedule.
What was already reported
This builds on two earlier reports we covered in When do GTA 6 reviews come out? on October 17:
- Reviews before launch. Insider Gaming reported that reviews are expected to go live before November 19. It did not publish a time, and its original article was later taken down.
- Review copies by the end of October. Insider NateTheHate said copies are expected to reach reviewers before October ends, as relayed by Notebookcheck. That would give critics about three weeks with the game.
An earlier, single-source claim that Rockstar would skip review codes and invite a few outlets to play at a secure location has not been backed up since. The newer reports all point to normal review copies.
What is confirmed
Confirmed: GTA 6 launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-load opens Thursday, November 12.
That is it. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a review date, an embargo time, or when review copies go out.
What November 18 would mean
If the report is right, here is how launch week would look:
- Thursday, November 12: pre-load opens.
- Wednesday, November 18, about 6 AM Eastern: reviews go live, if the report holds.
- Wednesday, November 18, 6 AM Eastern: the PlayStation Store's reported first unlock, in New Zealand.
- Wednesday, November 18, 9 PM Pacific / Thursday, November 19, midnight Eastern: GTA 6 unlocks in the US.
Our guess: a November 18 embargo would give you less than a day between the scores and the US unlock. If reviews will decide whether you keep your pre-order, that is not much time. The pre-order bonus cut-off falls on November 19 or 20 depending on how you read the wording, so decide before the evening of the 18th, not after.
The full week is laid out in our launch-week calendar, and we will update it if a review date is confirmed.
The spoiler warning
A review embargo is one day. Review copies are weeks. If copies really do reach critics by the end of October, more people will have played GTA 6 from this week on, and the risk of leaked plot details grows with every day. Our spoiler survival guide has the words to mute and the corners of the internet to avoid.
What would change this story
Two things to watch this week:
- October 31. If the end-of-October review copy report is right, critics should have the game by then. If they do not, the November 18 claim gets weaker too.
- Any official confirmation. If Rockstar or the outlets reviewing the game confirm a date, we will update this page and the calendar.
