Beyond Jason and Lucia: everyone else in GTA 6 Rockstar has introduced, and who I think matters most

Fair warning, the same one as always: this is me, and I have opinions. Where Rockstar has written or shown something, I say so. Where I am reading between the lines, I say that too.

I have spent a lot of this month on Lucia and on Jason and Lucia as a couple, and I am not sorry. But a GTA story is only as good as the people around the leads. Think of Lamar, or Lester, or Brucie. Rockstar introduced six of those people for GTA 6 back in May 2025, alongside Trailer 2, and almost nobody talks about them. So let's.

Cal Hampton: the friend on the couch

What Rockstar says. Cal is Jason's friend. He feels safest at home, listening in on Coast Guard radio with a few beers and some private browser tabs open. Rockstar's line is that "casual paranoia loves company," but Jason has bigger plans.

My read. Every GTA has the friend who would rather you stayed home, and Cal is that friend on purpose. A man who listens to the Coast Guard all night is useful to someone smuggling in the Keys. He is also the person most likely to panic. I think Cal is where the game keeps its jokes, and where it makes us feel it when things go wrong.

Brian Heder: the landlord

What Rockstar says. Brian is a drug runner from the Keys' old smuggling days. He still moves product through his boat yard with help from his third wife, Lori. He lets Jason live rent-free in one of his properties, as long as Jason helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori's sangria now and then.

My read. Rent-free is never free. Brian is the first face we saw in Trailer 2, and he is the closest thing Jason has to a boss when the story starts. He is also the reason Jason feels stuck. I would bet the "easy score" Rockstar keeps mentioning comes through Brian's yard. Lori is the one I want to know more about. A third wife who makes sangria for her husband's muscle is a whole character Rockstar has given us in one line.

Raul Bautista: the one who raises the stakes

What Rockstar says. Raul is a seasoned bank robber, always on the hunt for talent ready to take big risks for big rewards. Rockstar warns that his recklessness "raises the stakes with every score."

My read. Rockstar has never written a calm bank robber, and Raul is not going to be the first. He is the person who takes Jason and Lucia from small jobs to big ones. Ruby wrote about how his crew dresses. What I care about is the word "talent". Raul is a recruiter, and I think Lucia is the one he wants.

Boobie Ike: the legend

What Rockstar says. Boobie is a local Vice City legend with a business empire across real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. He is "all smiles until it's time to talk business." The studio, Only Raw Records, is the part he cares about most.

My read. Boobie is the most charming person Rockstar has shown us, and in a GTA game that is a warning sign. He is Vice City money that wants to be respected, not just rich. If the story moves from the Keys up to the city, I think it moves through his door.

Dre'Quan Priest: the hustler

What Rockstar says. Dre'Quan is "more of a hustler than a gangster." Breaking into music was always the goal. He books acts at Boobie's strip club and has signed the Real Dimez to Only Raw Records.

My read. I like Dre'Quan most of all on paper. He is a man trying to go legit inside a world that keeps pulling him back. That is a GTA story in itself, and it mirrors Jason and Lucia's. They want the good life. He wants a career. None of them get a clean way there.

The Real Dimez: the act

What Rockstar says. Bae-Luxe and Roxy have been friends since high school. They make music as the Real Dimez, after a past that involved shaking down local dealers. They had an early hit with a local rapper, DWNPLY, they are signed to Only Raw Records, and they are hoping lightning strikes twice.

My read. Two women who came up together and are still each other's ride or die. That is the mirror of Jason and Lucia, and I do not think it is an accident. I also think they will be on the radio and all over the in-game social feed. That makes them the side characters you hear about the most before you ever meet them.

Who matters most

If I had to bet, Brian and Raul drive the plot: one keeps Jason stuck, the other gets him out in the worst way possible. Boobie is where the money and the danger meet. Cal is where the heart is.

What Rockstar has not done is tell us who Lucia knows. Every profile above connects back to Jason. Lucia comes out of prison with nobody named beside her. That is either because Rockstar is saving her people for the game, or because she only has Jason. Either way, I will be watching.
