GTA 6 launch trailer is out: 90 seconds of new footage, a new song, and five weeks to go

Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on October 15, 2026: about 90 seconds of new PS5 footage, more on Jason's past, and the debut of "Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice, Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard.

Rockstar dropped the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on Thursday, October 15, with no countdown and no teaser, five weeks before the game's November 19 release. It runs about a minute and a half, it is all new footage, and it is the first official video since the 26-minute Extended Look in August.

What it shows

This is a story trailer, not a features reel. The footage is built around Jason and Lucia and the job that goes wrong: a robbery that was supposed to be simple pulls the two of them into something much larger, and the rest of the trailer is the fallout. Expect high-speed chases through Vice City, gunfights, and long sun-washed shots of the beaches and streets that have been the backdrop of every trailer so far, plus stretches of the wider state of Leonida.

The new piece of character detail is Jason's past. The trailer makes clear that his time in the military ended badly, and that the way he left is part of why he is struggling with ordinary life in the Keys. It fits what Rockstar had already said about him as an ex-soldier running product for local smugglers, and it fills in the "why" that the earlier trailers left open. Lucia's side of the story is as the previous trailers established it: fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary, and not planning to go back.

If you were hoping for new mechanics, there are none here. Fuel, the key cloner, the Criminal Profile, the six-star wanted system and the in-game social feed were all shown in the Extended Look, and this trailer does not add to that list. What it adds is tone.

The song

The trailer debuts "Flower in a Hurricane", credited to Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Justice are also the composers of the game's original score, and the track is part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the 34-song original record arriving with the game. That makes this the first trailer to lead with original music rather than a licensed classic, after Tom Petty in Trailer 1 and the Pointer Sisters in Trailer 2. The full tracklist so far is in our songs guide.

Captured on PS5, again

Rockstar states the footage was captured from the game running on a PlayStation 5, the same line it used for Trailer 2 and the Extended Look. It does not say whether that means a standard PS5 or a PS5 Pro. The official page carries a "Plays Best On PS5" badge, which is the marketing deal rather than a statement about Xbox; the game launches on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced.

What has not changed

The launch date is still November 19, 2026. Pre-orders are still open at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with the Vintage Vice City Pack for anyone who orders before November 20. Digital pre-load still opens November 12. Our launch guide has the unlock times by region, and the pre-load checklist covers the storage question.

Four trailers in, the pattern is set: a reveal in 2023, a cast introduction in 2025, a gameplay showcase in August, and now the closing argument. The next official video from Rockstar is probably the game itself.
