On August 27, 2026 Rockstar premiered 26 minutes of GTA 6 gameplay on Netflix at 3 PM Eastern, and posted it to its own channels six hours later. Netflix pitched the idea. It is a montage of clips and a few complete mission scenes captured on a base PlayStation 5, and the source of almost everything concrete known about how the game plays. Confirmed
Structure
It opens with a drug pickup in a tower block that goes wrong, a betrayed kingpin and the police turning it into a shootout, and ends with a condensed mission guarding a media executive at a party, with Jason and Lucia's text messages floating on screen mid-action.
What it showed
- Wanted level and Police leads
- The Criminal Profile
- Car theft and keys, fuel and damage (Driving and fuel)
- Shooting and combat and Character switching
- The Phone and social feed
- Side Activities
What Rockstar said around it
The map is roughly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's, single-player has no microtransactions, no generative AI was used, and the satire avoids real political figures and events. Confirmed Rockstar told The New York Times a February 2026 playthrough of the main story and narrative side content took about 80 hours; treat that as a rough figure. Reported
