The women of Leonida, read two ways: Eve on who Lucia, Bae-Luxe and Roxy are, Ruby on what they are wearing

Rockstar has introduced three women in GTA 6 so far: Lucia Caminos and the Real Dimez, Bae-Luxe and Roxy. Eve reads each one from what Rockstar has said and shown. Ruby reads the clothes in the official screenshots. They agree on most of it and argue about Lucia.

Same warning as last time, from both of us. What Rockstar has said or shown is marked as such. The rest is two women reading three women, and we do not always read them the same way.

Eve here. This piece has a simple shape. Rockstar has introduced three women in GTA 6 so far, by name and with a bio: Lucia Caminos, and Bae-Luxe and Roxy, the two halves of Real Dimez. For each one I go first and say who she is, from the bios, the trailers and the Extended Look. Then Ruby takes the same screenshots and reads the clothes, because in this game the clothes are doing a lot of the talking. At the end we disagree about Lucia, and you can settle it in the comments.

Lucia Caminos

Lucia. The one who gets things done.

What Rockstar says. Her father taught her to fight. Fighting for her family is what put her in Leonida Penitentiary. She spent her early years in Liberty City, got out of prison on a stroke of fortune, and intends to make nothing but smart moves from here. She wants the good life. Trailer 1 opened on her in prison scrubs being questioned and closed on her and Jason walking into a store with guns drawn. The Extended Look has her escaping a man with a stiletto heel, base-jumping, and setting fire to a getaway car to destroy evidence.

My read. Every line of that bio is about other people. Her father. Her family. Jason, who she carries when he hesitates. Rockstar has written a woman whose crimes are acts of loyalty, which is a very different starting point from Michael's boredom or Trevor's appetite. The phrase that matters is "only smart moves from here", because it is the sort of thing you say when you know you will not manage it. I wrote about her at length and about what she and Jason actually are, and nothing since has moved me off this: she is the lead of this game, and he is the one who got lucky.

Ruby: what she is wearing. Count the outfits and you have the whole arc. Prison scrubs first, which is the only thing in this game she did not choose. Then the white tank with the thigh tattoo on show, which is a woman dressing for a hot day and a long drive and nobody else. Then the night looks: sparkle, leopard, the red sequin mini from the Vintage Vice City Pack, and that leopard fur over pink outside Stock 305. Those are not disguises. A woman who wanted to disappear would buy beige. Lucia buys the loudest thing on the rail, which tells you she expects to be looked at and has decided to enjoy it. The tiger boots are the tell. You do not wear tiger-stripe boots to a job you intend to be quiet at.

One confirmed rule makes her wardrobe gameplay rather than decoration: the police track what Lucia is wearing, and a full change of clothes drops that lead. What she eats and whether she trains changes her body too, which Ruby went through last week. Eve covered the whole wardrobe and the named shops already, so I will not repeat the list.

Bae-Luxe and Roxy, Real Dimez

What Rockstar says. Old school friends. They robbed local dealers in school, had a hit five years ago, and are signed to Only Raw Records, the label Dre'Quan Priest runs with Boobie Ike's money behind it. They first appeared in Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. In one screenshot they are filming themselves in a car, and the Extended Look showed an in-game social feed where posts go viral and people livestream. Eve went through everyone else Rockstar has introduced last week.

My read. "Had a hit five years ago" is the cruellest sentence in any of the bios. Five years is a long time in a business built on last week. Everything about the pair reads as two people trying to get back to a moment, and Rockstar has given them the exact tools the real world gives you for that: a label that needs them, a feed that rewards noise, and a history of robbing dealers that they can either leave behind or turn into the brand. I think the game lets them do the second. I also think they are the most honest characters in it, because they are the only ones whose hustle is the same one everyone reading this has watched on a phone.

Ruby: what they are wearing. Everything. A shaggy yellow fur. A snake-print bodysuit. Leopard again, because this is Vice City and leopard is a neutral here. Lace-up tops, big hair, long nails, lashes you could see from the Keys. Lucia dresses loud because she can. The Dimez dress loud because they must: every outfit is a post, every post is a day's worth of attention, and attention is the only currency a duo five years past its hit can still spend. Look at the car shot. Nobody is driving. The phone is the point. That is not vanity, it is the job, and Rockstar has drawn it with real affection.

I wrote about the gangs and what their colours mean and the Dimez belong on that list, because a look that loud is a flag too. It says Only Raw Records, it says Vice City, and it says do not mistake us for backup singers.

Where we agree

Both of us. Rockstar has written its women as the ones with a plan. Lucia decides when Jason dithers. The Dimez run their own hustle inside a label run by men. Nobody is waiting to be rescued, and nobody is a prize. That is a change from a series that spent twenty years keeping women at the edge of the frame, and it is the thing we would bet on holding up when the game is in our hands.

Where we argue: what Lucia's look is for

Eve says armour. Everything in Lucia's bio is about protecting people, and I read the clothes the same way. The sparkle and the fur are a woman putting a wall between herself and a room that would rather she were smaller. She dresses up the way other people stand up straight before a fight. The quiet tank top on the long drive is the real Lucia; the rest is what she wears to work.

Ruby says statement. No. Armour is beige. Armour is a hoodie and sunglasses and a seat with your back to the wall. Lucia buys tiger boots. She is not protecting herself from being seen, she is insisting on it, and the game backs me up: the police track her outfit precisely because it is memorable. A woman out of prison on a stroke of fortune, who intends to make only smart moves, chooses the leopard fur anyway. That is not defence. That is a promise to herself that the good life starts now, whether or not the plan survives.

Pick a side below. We will be reading, and one of us will be insufferable about it by Friday.
